It depends......but i would guess 15min or less
Stropping, prep, three passes - maybe 35-40 minutes (if I'm not rushing). I've started to strop earlier in the day so it's ready to go and cuts down a few minutes when it's time to shave. You can do a fast one-pass in minutes.
with face prep.and a 2 pass shave 5 minutes at the longest. but i have been doing this every day for 3 years , but i still like to take my time it is so much fun, and i like the smell of the soap and the pre shave oil it has the same eo"s in them.
15 minutes tops for a three pass shave.
wow, you guys are fast!
I'm in the 15 to 20 minute camp now with my usual two passes but when I started it took so long that the lather would dry on one side of my face before I got to the other. :)
Generally speaking, it takes me 45 minutes to an hour from shower to stropping, lathering, shaving, cleanup etc. If I take my time 1-1.5hr.
It's not about being fast. Everyone shaves at their own pace. Everyone uses different razors, brushes, mugs and soaps/creams. Water is also a factor. My water is hard and therefore have to work harder at lathering. But that's my problem. Just too cheap to spend water softener ;)
If you're in a hurry when it comes to SR shaving you may as well stick to electric or DE or even disposeable so you don't nick yourself or worse. Some people have double edged razors where in some days they can't take sweet time and must fore-go the luxury of using their SR.
It's an acquired skill that can't be mastered overnight.
I've gotten into breaking up the routine to allow the kids access to the bathrooms as they get ready for school.
First, I pick out a razor and strop it. That's maybe 2 minutes. (If I know I'll be rushed the next morning, I might strop before going to bed.)
I soak my brush (15 secs), then go make some coffee, take a shower. Then I lather (2 min, tops) and shave, which lasts at least 5 mins, but can go longer depending upon the time and how I feel.
Generally about 5 minutes. But then, I'm only shavng my neck now, as I've gown a beard. I'm curious to know how long it would take me now with more practice time under my belt, if I returned to a full shave.
From prep to aftershaveabout 15 minutes.
I am at 12-15 minute for all the prep and one WTG and one XTG pass. I clean-up with my DE, and that takes an addition 5 minutes. When I finally learn to hone a good edge, I will do all the passes with the SR. The honing and chin area are killing me.
15-20 min for me, including prep/post. If I'm really looking to spoil myself & do a "luxury shave", more like 30 min.
It depends on my mood, what I've got on that I need to do, how warm my bathroom happens to be that day. If everything is good, I can take up to an hour enjoying myself. However, my normal shave time, from getting out of the shower to packing up all my stuff and going back to my dorm room, is somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes.
If time is an issue. 2 passes, go to whoa, 6-8mins ... but preferably as long as possible.
It depends on what's going on. I've gone from shower through cleanup in 20 minutes when I was in a hurry before with a resulting DFS. I typically take longer (30-45 minutes from shower to cleanup) though because I really enjoy the process.
:gl:
For a decent two pass (wtg, xtg) 10-15mins, for an all out shave probably 25mins. It depends on how much time I have.
After a 3 day growth - 15 minutes to get the awesome BBS shave. Tu - Fri, 8 minutes as its nothing more than XTG and ATG to maintain the good look.
When I first started out, it took 45 minutes and once I became proficient, then the time dropped to the above.

About (with a little practice) the same time it takes to shave with a DE, and add in however long it takes you to do around 60 laps on a strop. Many like to make it take longer because using a straight is so much more enjoyable.
I've been at it 7 months and it takes me about 25min for a full 3 pass shave. I get such a close shave that I only need to shave about 3x per week, and I also shave at night before bed so I'm not rushed-- very relaxing.

I timed myself last night. It took 27 minutes to do three passes. This included building lather, shaving, cleaning up everything, and stropping blade after. I felt like I was going about it fairly leisurely, definitely not hurried.
Appreciate it
WTG + XTG + ATG + WP = BBS < 10 ~ 15 min.
I think I'm a slow stropper to boot - since I don't own stones yet (just my strop and Chromium Oxide balsa strop that I made a few weeks ago - which by the way was really fast/easy/cheap/effective) I go carefully enough so I won't botch the blade. I also enjoy taking time...in the cold weather, hanging out in a warm bathroom with hot kettle water in the scuttle is heaven!
I went back and looked at videos of myself shaving (which I did a few weeks before I found SRP). While I did two passes in about 8 minutes, they were not very effective and my technique was a disaster. I'm much better, but also much slower now LOL (I should really take those down)!
Very best for your day!
Julian
If I'm really screaming, in a hurry, got to get to work, kind of a rush, well...35 minutes. On weekends I'll lally gag up to an hour to get a really tight shave. I do a 3-pass every time.
Stop and smell the roses,
Marc
About a forty minutes, this time frame includes everything that I need to do pre and post shave.
nate
5 - 10 minutes
When I first started, it took me close to an hour for the whole ritual because everything was new to me from beard prep, to stropping, to shaving, and post-shave
15-20 minutes on average for a 3-pass shave, including stropping, prep, and cleanup.
Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter.
Hi,
45 minutes from start to putting the razor to bed; the actual shaving part takes 10 -15 minutes for three passes.
Best regards
Russ
about 10 min if the razors good and sharp
About 15 minutes for one pass plus touch-ups, 30 minutes for a full shave.
All in, I guess maybe 20 minutes. Best 20 minutes of my day half the time as well..! :-)
about 40 min from start to finish depends on what music i have playing at the time
With beard prep, lather production and stropping - about 20 min. This includes with/against/accross the grain. I insist on a baby butt smooth shave!

After 2 month of using straight roughly 35minutes
When i first started it could take an hour now with prep and 2 passes plus rinsing down cleaning brush etc 15 to 20 min a quik one 10min
Depending on the razor, soap/cream, brush and brain activity level:
slow: 30 minutes
normal: 15 minutes
quick: 6 minutes
