close and even first shave would be prtty impressive no matter how sharp your razor was
you probably need your razor sharpened unless you got it shave ready from one of the sellers that are known to actually sell shave ready razors
so where did you buy?
:o my junior title is gone but i still know nothing
What is the brand of the razor you purchased?
Did the vendor sell it as, "Shave Ready"?
Where did you purchase it from?
What kind of prep are you doing?
The angle you hold it at also makes a huge difference.
its a Solingen and don't know if its shave ready I also have a strop for it has canvas on one side and leather on the other
it was purchased at advanced cutlery dont know how long it was sitting in case
If you don't know, I am guessing you didn't purchase it from a vendor who took care to explain/let you know that it was.
I'd be willing to bet it needs a good honing. IMHO, your best bet is to get it honed by opne of the well trusted members here. Even if you know how to sharpen other instruments (like knives) a well honed razor is a different thing alltogether, and to know what "shave ready" feels like is crucial to learning to do it yourself.
Edit: sorry, I took so long posting, I missed the last two!
advanced cutlery is the store name? Trying to search the googles for it...
Thanks for the help
