I have joined this site as ive had an interest in straight razors since i was young, my gran had a box in her cupboard that she showed me when i was about 10 years old, I was never allowed to touch them, but could look. My gran died in 1984 and I always wondered what happened to the box of razors she had, i believe they were thrown out.
Over the last year I have started picking up Straight razors from flea markets, car boot sales and the odd car boot sale, I now have 7 razors.
I have 2 wedge Hunter & sons Sheffield, 1, peter Willer "magnet" Hamburg, germany, 1 Taylor "witness" Hollow ground, 1 John Watts Sheffield, and 1 George Westenholm Sheffield, they are not in as new condition, one has a minor chip on the blade and the others have signs of rust staining, the 2 Hunter wedges are stamped on the horn scale with UK military markings, one has WD (war department) stamp, the other has initials and a number.
I also have a small collection of safety razors, an early Gilette, a few Valet Self Strops and a few Rolls Razors, along with a few accessories etc.
I hope to learn of the history of shaving and how to maybe restore the straights.
