    Default End of Round 1

I came out strong. Like James Toney after a half dozen Nathan's dogs. I was feeling confident and I was able to roll every punch the 5/8 terror threw at me. I made it through one side burn with moderate success, but scoring points none the less. Then the hours of training kicked in and I remembered about pulling the skin taught. My corner had to step in and bring me a rag, as I was struggling for grip. I then started to pick up some steam. Done with the second burn...I'm a bad man, I'm pretty.

BOOM, then I caught one on the button. Staggered and woozy, I shook it off and got back in the fight. The Ebony Brawler could tell that I felt that one and he inched closer like a hungry pit bull. I was now in a fight!

Much of it was a series of unsure jabs with the occasional glancing overhand cross. After trying a few moves to impress the audience, but ultimately failing with the judges, I lumbered over to the ropes. Everyone knew what they were watching, and no matter what kind of spin my promoter tries to put on it, I was definitely bested that round. The bell rang, and I made it out without any noticeable damage, but the Super Solingen was ahead on the cards, no question.

Looking back, I know now that my machismo and overconfidence is what did me in. Before I step back in the ring I am hitting up the gym.

I plan on watching and reading up again about the proper shave technique. That is something that I admittedly glossed over in the interest of reading about restoring razors. I felt confident going with the grain of the hair, but it did not give me the closeness that I was expecting. The razor came out of the package today from SRD, and I am sure that it is well honed and sharp, but it was not what I expected. I did not put it to the strop, thinking that I might have the best chance using what the pros sent me. Next time I am going to give it a go on the cow skin. The one saving grace is that I gave up before it got bloody. I have a meeting tomorrow with some big wigs from the state, and I didn’t want to look like I got into a fight with a drunken badger.

I am going to drink a beer and call it a night. Tomorrow I am going to go back through the forums and bone up on proper technique, as I know that I did not retain much of the advice that I have seen in regards to how to actually shave.

Anyway, I figured that I would tell my tale. The Ebony Pride won the first round, but I will be right back in the center of the ring, after a day or two.
