For edge maintenance you could get a barber hone or one of the 12k hones, or a pasted strop.

As for razors you can check the classifieds here, or either of those you listed in your post are good options.

I have no personal dealings with Ruprazor but based on the feed back I've heard on this site I'm sure you will get a functioning razor from the site.

Gold dollar may have spotty quality when you get them from factory, but those GD's from Rup are fixed up before sold. Which means if it was a crappy GD I think they'd discover that ahead of time and not let it out the door.

I won't provide any insight into what to buy. It doesn't matter too much. Imagine if you were thinking about buying a car and came to a car forum and said "What should I buy?"

Most people would just suggest a car that runs (is shave ready) and a way to maintain it (a hone). I guess the strop would be the starter engine . . . you need one of those I guess. Jeeeez, that metaphor didn't work as I had planned.
