Why a STR8 and a DE?

Since Late December, I have been training myself with both a str8 and a DE.

I have felt like I was loosing training opportunities by using the DE, when I am really trying to become proficient with the str8.

However, I have had yet another epiphany about this. There are at least three major benefits for a newbie to train with both.

First, a DE is a really really good shave. It is the type of shave that I aspire to being able to consistantly get with my str8. I use the DE as my benchmark for the different areas of my face.

Second, I am using the DE to understand my beard growth directions and razor positions before I go after it with my str8. This is a great way to avoid razor burn, nicks etc. I don't mind experimenting with the str8. I think in the end, you have to experiment. But why torture yourself in the process?

Third, if you don't have the time, a str8 is nothing to rush, not spiritually and not physically. So, I turn to a DE on those days.

So, I can justify my combination of str8 and DE. Wheew!
