Default second shave.... not so good

Hey everyone. I just bought a dovo best quality in 5/8 full hollow from SRD, so it is fully sharpened. The first shave went pretty well. Although, it seems like the razor is dragging and skipping a whole lot more than my DE. Not sure if this is just due to technique. Maybe I need to apply more pressure.
Also, I find that by the time I get 1/3 of the way through (2-3 minutes), my lather is drying and flaking off. Since I can shave so quickly with my de, I never really noticed how long lather was supposed to stay "wet."

Any input on the skipping and drying lather would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

AT first please don't use any pressure.
i think will better if you find better soap . i am not a genus about soaps but i think tabac will do the job.
Prepare your face with hot towels before shave and strop your razor well. Again don't use pressure in here ether.
Have you read article in wiki about beginner's guide?
    if not please do .
    hope this helps.

I have been using speick, nancy boy, and proraso so I don't think it is an issue with the products I am using. Most other soaps and creams I have used irritate my skin.

why it gets so fast dry then? or you are taking too long time ?
if you are taking too long time then only lather small portion of your face shave that portion and then move on to next one.
Lastly if you think there is a problem with your blade then the best option will be contact to Lynn.
    This may help.

This time of year, with the heat running, and even though it's a heat pump, our humidity in the house just plummets. This sucks water out of the lather on my face and in the bowl. Even shaving DE, I add a sprinkle of water to that in the bowl and relather the jaws and neck after shaving the cheeks and upper lip. I don't even try to go one whole pass on one lathering. Works much better.

As said, no pressure either stropping or shaving. Short strokes, starting with the blade flat on your skin and lifting the spine off just enough to cut well.

    Good luck!

I can understand the soap drying. You are taking a very long time to shave, as you should. Don't worry about it. Just re-lather as you go. Your speed will pick up in due time and it will no longer be an issue. The first time I shaved, it took a half hour! The speed will come, concentrate on technique.

You will have good and bad days when shaving. Everyone's learning curve is different. I had fabulous shaves for the first three weeks, then for some reason, I couldn't shave without cutting myself for a full week! It drove me crazy. Then for some reason, all was well again. Go figure!

I am beginning to think much of the learning is at a sub-concious level. I've learned much of which I can only articulate a little. I know that I cut myself when I stop the blade and I have "weepers" when I apply too much force or weight on the blade.

Is it okay to leave certain sections un-lathered and dry for several minutes before applying a little water and lather to it, or do I have to re-prep that spot thoroughly before applying lather?

If you don't need those sections dry in order to have good grip on them while you tighten skin elsewhere, I'd go ahead and lather them, then lather over them with some wetter lather when you get to them.

This morning, I tried lathering before and after stropping like in our 30-year shaving veteran's video, and it worked out okay for me.

I do tests a lot and sometimes i end up test 8 razors. in that case i use only small portion of my face for each blade. i shave wtg, xtg, and find out how the razor. this allows me to test 8 razors easily.
why don't you use same method and shave i am not sure.
