Thread: First shave with new razor...

Until now I have been kind of "roughing it", until I found this site. I finally got a (Mug), Soap and Badger Brush.

I have been using canned lather (Lafter??)

Anyway.... Mug, Soap, Badger Brush and I and my new Boker Edelweiss razor had an appointment this evening.

Hot water only... lathered up with the badger.

To be honest with you all... I have a very sensitive face. Using the Badger Bush annoyed my face more than shaving with a straight razor. Maybe because it seems foreign to my face right now.

Anyway... The lather produced very nicely and the shave was like none othr before.

I even lathered up several times again on known trouble areas to repeat the shave, except different approaches...

I love this blade. And the soap does make a difference.... That canned crap you can give to the wife.

Yes, ditch the canned crap. But why not introduce your wife to the pleasures of awesome lather? It can only enhance your marriage.

It'll take a few shaves to really start breaking your new brush in...after that, it's all cherry pie and ice cream My boar was the same way but after the end of the month, it was great.

I like to soak my boar bristle brush for a few minutes before lathering - makes it a little softer. Other than that nice work!

ahh the joys of new toys. what soap did you get?just courious. and yep ditch the canned goo maybe give it to a BP worker

The soap is a cheapie... Williams Mug Soap... $1 a bar. Seemed to do the job though.

I saw some really nice soaps on SRD I was thinking of getting... one in particular called Provosol or something like that. I have it in my shopping cart on that site. Anybody know anything about it? It's kind of pricey, but my face is worth it!

I had to edit this... I just saw on Ebay this very same Williams soap... "buy it now" $2.75 with $3.99 shipping. OMG!! I got my same soap from an online barber supply store for $0.99 plus shipping, but I got other stuff too, so that soap really didn't add to the shipping.... Damn! I'm glad I'm surfing all resources on straight razor shaving before I waste a lot of money on ignorance.

there lots of great soaps and creams out there everyone has there favorite.try dr. harris (my favorite)your face will love you for it.as for Provosol? never tried it if its proraso go ahead and get it the scent may or may not put you off but its a great cream very slick and easy to lather i like it on hot days for its cooling effects.
