Thanked: 9When is too big, too big?
Well my Livi Takeda 7/8 arrived yesterday from Italy! Wow, massive beast compared to the Livi Regrind I had been using. But what a shave. I was a bit intimidated with the square point and size, but surprisingly, it seemed almost easier to use? I have a rather "contoured/chiseled" jaw line and have always had problems getting the blade in there, but with the 7/8 found it to be much easier. I'm in the Q for a RWilliams and need to figure out if I should go to 8/8 or something larger than 7/8? Thoughts, opinions? Geez, that's asking for it in this place....

Its really personal preference TBH. Do you prefer the larger or the smaller blades?
I guess once you get up to not being able to get a shave without slashing yourself, then the razors too big...!
I have razors from 4/8 to 15/16 and I prefer the bigger blades, I have to say. I've seen a few of the custom makers go up to 10/8, but I dont know if anyones ever gone bigger than that.
If you like your 7/8, and prefer the larger blades, I'd say go for an 8/8 or even 9/8. Just be sure to post some pics here..!

You can't post about Livis without the relevant pics. Of both of them. Check the site's rules.

Thanked: 9I think that's the debate, do I go to a 8/8 or stay with a 7/8? I've some time in the Q to figure it out. As for the Takeda Livi (no pics of the regrind - yet):

Thanked: 995It's too big when you nick your forehead while taking a pass along your jawline...
I have one of Joe C's that is capable of that.“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

Thanked: 9JAJAJJAJAJA....ouch...belly hurts....
TBH, I was surprised at how much more massive the 7/8 was over the 6/8, so I'm wondering about 8/8 or 15/16. I just don't want to end up with show piece only...

In my expereince, anything bigger than 10/8 starts to get a little unwieldy.
