Thanked: 1Like riding a bike...
So the first of the razors I had ordered turned up today; a 4/8 J&Riley Carr courtesy of Neil Miller and I simply had to give it a go.
It's been about 20 years since I last shaved with a straight and I will be honest that I was a tad apprehensive about how things would go.
Turns out I shouldn't have been quite as nervous as I was.
Much like riding a bike shaving seems to be something that my body has been reluctant to forget that easilly, I guess all those hours spent with my Grandfather having to do it whether I wanted / needed to or not counted for something (plus the scars were an awesome talking point at school)
I'm not saying that I was perfect straight off the bat, there is a lot of room for improvement (I mean a lot) but the shave was close and smooth and I was able to give my whole face and neck 3 passes including 1 pass against the grain.
Not bad considering that I had a 3 1/2 month beard when I went to work this morning.
I know that trying to run before I can walk and getting over confident is a sure road towards cutting myself but it was such a nice feeling after such a long time that I had to post this.
Roll on tomorrow
