    Default How often?

How often should I use a hone on my razor?

I bought a fine Keen Cutter Combo Barber Hone from LawsonStone on here just haven't used it yet because with my 3 razors, well 2 that I've mostly been using but all 3 seem very sharp & still shave wonderfully, but I thought how many shaves before I should run my razor across my hone?

I'm not talking restoring an edge, I'm talking about a few strokes to maybe true up the edge, if that's the right way of putting it.

I think when the shaves are no longer comfortable, and your face decides it's time.

The answer to this question depends upon the razor. I think it will vary GREATLY depending on the razor.

For instance, I have not touched up my Boker Edelweiss on paste or stone for approximately twenty shaves. All of my other razors have been touched up in that same period of time. It is impossible to give a simple time based answer to this question.

As it was already stated, the best way to judge this is your beard and the individual razor. When it starts to tug/pull....it's time to touch up.

When you think it's going great, and then you start having problems, it's probably the blade and you are ok...
