Thanked: 1Oh no!
I got my first razor last week and have shaved with it about 4 times. When I took it out today it had two dark spots about 1/8 inch from the pivot and a spot on the tow end of the spine. I tried wipping them off with a piece of tp but they would't come out. I automaticaly jumped to pitting but I have only had it for a week and there hasnt been any rust and I dry it realy well. What could it be?

Thanked: 1371It's probably just water spots... Try some metal polish on a pencil eraser to take them off.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Thanked: 1To knightwolf, I tried to take a picture but the spots did't show up all that well on the picture.
To HNSB, would any metal polish work? I think it would work on the smaller ones but the one on near the toe is deep enough that when I scratch at it my nail "catches" on it.
What can I do to prevent this from happening again, I don't store it in the bathroom and I dry it as good as I can. The only thing I can think of is that I keep it in the box it came in.

Thanked: 21I wipe my razors off after shaving blow air at the pivot and strop it a few times then I have a bottle of mineral oil (baby oil but cheaper) and lightly coat the blade.

speldeth,
After shaving rinse the blade in really hot water, then dry.
Strop blade (on fabric or leather), then leave razor open for an hour or so.
After that you can use a preservative (such as mineral oil e.g. baby oil) if you wish.
Most mild metal polishes (MAAS, Flitz, Autosol, Mag Wheel polishes) would be OK for removing your 'spots'.
Good luck !
Have fun !
Best regards
