    Question Timor Blue any input?

Hey just wondering if anyone has shaved with any of the new timor blue 5/8 razors. Just wondering if they are any good, I couldn't find any reviews on the forum. Also as a side note anyone bought a pre-sharpened razor from fendrihan.com just wondering if they do a good job of honeing they're "shave ready" razors or if i should buy it with the factory edge and get someone more reputable to hone it up for me

    cheers

The Timor comes up often and I think there are several guys who have them. Just based on what I've seen on the site it appears the vintage Timors were fine razors. The newer ones probably not as good. I'm sure someone who has one will chime in. I recall some of the honemeisters have reported mixed opinions with them.

If you’re looking for a good first razor I would suggest looking for a good vintage blade from either the classifieds on this site. Straight Razors - Straight Razor Place Classifieds or try whippeddog.com which has nice vintage blades for cheap. If you are looking for new the general consensus tends to be to go with a low price Dovo or TI.

I have a vintage Timor and it is one of my best...I have a friend that bought a newer Timor and he likes it also..That said, I am not a fan of the way the new ones look...Cheap looking scales and a lousy finish..

My brother has the new Timor is a nice razor according to him.
Not a bad choice for a beginner razor.

You're in Canada? Try The Classic Edge, they are based in Oakville, Ontario. I just bought a Dovo from them. I'm too new at this to say they are expert honers or not but compared to another razor I got honed somewhere else it is much better. They currently have a no shipping on orders over $100 and I think they're still including the tax in the list price. Us Canadians are always trying to skimp on tax. Great service too, included a handwritten note (who does that anymore?) and a matchbook of styptic pencils. I would definitely order from them again.
