So I was getting some more practice with my hones and did what I thought was a reasonable job (for me) so I stropped her up and gave her a whirl. The edge, while the bevel is a little wider than I'd prefer thanks to previous ham fisted efforts, felt like my best yet ... except ...

Ya see I learned two things.
Firstly, things like skin need to move against the edge, not along it. Well DUH! you might say, and I would agree. My head knows this, my arm knows this and my face bl#%dy well sure knows it, but my hand forgot ... briefly ... stupid hand.
Secondly ... I felt it, like a very fine sting with a touch of pull, ergo the blade isn't as sharp as I thought it should be. I clot pretty quickly anyway and styptic is a wonderful invention so the casualty ward need never know, but I'll remember this just the same. stupid hand
