As a complete newbie to straight razor shaving but a serious devotee of activities that require high levels of practice one of my laments is that I only get to shave once a day! I need more practice to really master this skill.
Of course I could use a butter knife or plastic blade to get more "reps" in but one thing I've found myself doing lately is getting my three passes in regardless of whether I need them or not. That is, once I've "finished" shaving with the straight, before I go to the DE to finish off, I re lather and"practice" shaving the lather off ( as my good friend Carazor cued me to do- as opposed to shaving the hair),
With virtually no hair to cut I can really practice blade placement, angle and technique. It's a good way to deal with the obsession to shave and shave and shave. lol.
Hope this helps
