Practice
As a complete newbie to straight razor shaving but a serious devotee of activities that require high levels of practice one of my laments is that I only get to shave once a day! I need more practice to really master this skill.
Of course I could use a butter knife or plastic blade to get more "reps" in but one thing I've found myself doing lately is getting my three passes in regardless of whether I need them or not. That is, once I've "finished" shaving with the straight, before I go to the DE to finish off, I re lather and"practice" shaving the lather off ( as my good friend Carazor cued me to do- as opposed to shaving the hair),
With virtually no hair to cut I can really practice blade placement, angle and technique. It's a good way to deal with the obsession to shave and shave and shave. lol.
Hope this helps

I think practice in any way you can is great, but the intention to practice and find ways to improve will be what gets you where you want to go. Keep at it!

Great stuff! " the intention to practice and find way to improve" exactly. One's intention is so key.One of the things I love best about straight razor shaving, as with my kettlebell practice, is that one HAS to concentrate and be in the present. There is no other choice.
What a great way to start the day.
