I found an excellent pyramid to use but alas I only have a small hand held compass and not much cardinal knowledge, is it ok if I orientate my pyramid magnetic north instead?

Well I do have to set my morning wake up alarm 30 minutes earlier now as a result of taking up straight razor shaving so that doubles my usual DE shaving time and I still find me running late for work.
So as a beginner I must admit it takes time to do my daily straight razor shave, admittedly that is not just the shave that takes the time but the preparation, stropping, cleaning, oiling etc. But I vow not to give up and looking forward to the day when I can race the whole performance and still have a BBS face and not run late for work.
I could shave at night but I want to start the day with a smooth as face which makes up for time lost.
Thanks much for all the encouragement. I've been using new razors and my shaves are incredible in no time at all. My first razor is unusable at this point. but hopefully the others will last a while now that I am practicing my stropping.
As long as I can keep my blades sharp, I will be happy. I'll post another shave video soon. I am shaving much better now.
Here are some pics of my latest add ons. I bought three junk razors another Dovo (Stainless) and a Boker.

Meet with Alan as soon as you can, you'll learn a lot, plus that's the shortest way to figuring out what's the issue with your edges 'not lasting'.
Just a quick thought: in the video, your blade angle looked really
shallow to me. A good point of reference is 30 degrees (or around
2 spine widths, I think), but you may find that more or less works
for you.
