Shave number 2, and a question.
Got home from work, and hopped in the shower. I wasn't planning on shaving but decided to anyways.
Shave 2 went well. Did both cheeks and my neck (I have a mustache and goatee). Did a lot better with my left hand this time. I did a single WTG pass. Still didn't get a very good shave, but again no blood.
My question has to do with irritation. Like I mentioned, I only did one pass and I didn't cut myself. However when I applied my after shave balm (Nivea). There was a small amount of burning. Nothing bad, and it only lasted a second. Is this normal, or am I getting more irritation than I should?
I think my shave prep is good, Hot shower, Niviea pre shave face scrub, Good lather. So if it is excessive irritation I'm guessing it would be a technique issue.....
Thanks,
Troy

Thanked: 1263It might be your technique...remember to use very little or no pressure on the blade...let it do the work. Or it could be just a matter of you're not used to shaving everyday...sometimes it takes awhile for your skin to adjust and then theres some where it never does.

Thanked: 23it sounds like it might be pressure or angle, try your hardest to use at most a 30 degree angle. I have to shave every third day everyones face is different. Try different things and you will eventually find your grove.

For me, the best advice I got for reducing irritation was to reduce my angle. A light touch also helps.

I'd start by backing off on pressure. If the blade is sharp, it should be able to get the job done without pressure. You should
experience zero razor burn when your pressure is right.
