Which TI did you get? Turns out, you're as bad as me!! I always end up not making a choice, I just get both or all three, etc. LOL. You'd of ended up with both anyway!!

Got Rasurpur's TI new forging luxury entry razor.

Nothing spectacular but also something I wouldn't be ashamed to give my kid some day. At least after I wreck my Dovo trying to hone the first ten times

Nice looking razor!! Congrats!! You'll enjoy it, and TI's do shave well!!

Super sexy razor (pick from rasurpur)
Sweet! That does looks a lot better than having AoS branding on the blade fwiw.
I really like my Lynn-honed Dovo, but the last few months I've been able to try just a few French blades--and really liked them. I've always thought they were a small step ahead of the Dovo in terms of steel and grind, but I don't speak from experience.
Entry TI from Rasurpur looks to be about $135 shipped--$170+ from anyone else stateside. That $108 for the AoS doesn't seem insane--unless it's a crappy grind.
Cheers!
His prices are in Euros which right now is $1.31=1.00€ so it comes out to about the same price but Martin hand hones his and test shaves his blades. From what I have read he does a pretty good job as well.
Hi Ryan and welcome to the world of straight razor shaving!!
which TI razor are you talking about? I am assuming you are talking about the Evide Sonnant Extra singing razors. That one is a good choice (either 6/8 or 5/8) but if you are talking of more exotic TI razors (like the sheffield silver steel line) I would recommend other razors.
of course it is your preferance and choice but I may recommend a DOVO best quality 6/8 (half hollow or full hollow) which is a sound choice for a beginner (or advanced, I have a couple in my rotation). It is around $85 about HALF as expensive as an "inexpensive" Thiers Issard (like super gnome or Evide Sonnant Extra).
also you have to know that TI razors rust faster than DOVO razors (both carbon and stainless) and they require more care and maintenance (like drying and oiling the blade after every use).
let me know if you have more qustions.
Dan
Thanks Dan, but I ended up buying two razors. I got the kit from SRD with the Dovo 6/8 half hollow, their 3" Latigo strop, the DVD and a bottle of camellia oil. Just shipped today and from Ohio to Wisconsin, I should get it in a couple days. Can't wait.
Then I couldn't resist the beauty of the TI razors so I ordered this one from Martin at Rasurpur.de in Germany. Its a TI "New Forging" 6/8 full hollow. Should take a few weeks so I can get started with the Dovo before I get my hands on the TI.
