yup, that's the worst electrical tape for honing IMO. You'll also notice it rubs off on your hone and then you hone over little pieces of it...then when you take the tape off, it leaves a sticky residue on your blade...

I've been using the super 33 for a while now and haven't had any problems at all with it other than leaving a little residue behind when removing the tape and that can be removed easy enough.
I like the Duck electric tape no residue left on the blade. As far as wear when honing, all tapes do.
I wonder if you guys have a bad roll or two. I've been using the 33+ for about two years now, and on every blade that comes through my door.
I do notice that it leaves a bit of residue, and it generally doesn't favour oil (when i use my Charnely), but other than that I love it. It's also the thinnest tape out there....
Personally, I think it's great. I like the 700 too, but I'd rather use the 33+
I wonder what is the deal too, I have gotten the 33+ several times aver the last year and it has always left residue on the razor.Quote:

I believe he is talking about Duct Tape brand Etape. Like Crescent and Kleenex Duct is a brand that has become common name for a product that company makes.Quote:

I can only give an opinion, I've never tried duct tape, but I'd say no. It's probably too thick and I have no idea how it would hold up. I'm using Tartan 1710 electrical with no problems, and have used 3M 1700 with good results. Just get a roll in that range and you shoul be fine.

Edit: Maxi and Ben typed faster than me and they obviously know more about duct tape than me, and probably a lot more things!
Never an issue with 33,most all Electrical tape is .007 thick.
I get a little tape residue, and find the tape itself manages to get most of it off...remove the strip and dab with it. After I always wipe the blade with alcohol. Seems to do the trick.
Always carry a roll of 33+ at work. Works great as a waterproof bandaid as well in a pinch...
