Thanked: 32First straight shave, went well
I figure with all the rough starts that get posted, I'll spread some good news for trepidatious newbies.
I had my first straight shave and experienced a good shave, no cuts, a few tiny weepers that didn't even require styptic. About par with what I can do using a DE. I went really slow, paid attention to relathering when things dried out, stopped at the slightest tug.
Definitely some perplexing angles/grips I need to figure out. I went a little crazy on my chin trying to get the stubborn hair with no ill effects. The mustache area is also a problem as I can't seem to get a smooth ATG pass to really get it close.
For DE guys thinking of stepping over, I feel having started with DE wet-shaving was definitely a huge help to me. Especially experience with open comb razors.
