Thanked: 5great shave
thanks to some very nice members (jaswarb) i got a great shave today!
i understand what the shave should be like from a nicely honed and stropped razor should feel like. he sent me a torrey that he honed and i put it to the canvas and leather strops i have and lathered up.
the whiskers melted off. i only have a teensy bit of burn from some some tricky spots but i think that is from my techniqe. over all it was great.
i have been reading the JaNorton thread and i have been working on lapping my 4k/8k stone.
i bought i peice of tile that is nice flat and polished. i used that and some 220 grit wet sand paper to check the Norton Flattening stone. i think its good.
i am a little concerned about the 4k. i seem to have a corner and one teeny portion of one side (about 1/8th inch wide and about 1 1/2 inches long) that just dont want to get hit by the flattening stone. the rest is super smooth.
i started working on the 8k but that will take some more work. the center is smoothing out but i think will take some time. i am not using any pressure just the weight of the stone. i have a plastic tub to submerge the NFS. should i have the NFS on bottom or the 4k/8k.
well i cant think of to much more at the moment.
thanks
