Could use some Help going in the right direction!

For others he will mail stuff to them,they just have to pay for the shipping. For honing he will charge you $15 and then for repeat customers its $5. He guarantees the razor for 3 month, so if you screw up and roll the edge or do something else, or just think it needs to be touched up he will do it for free ( just pay s&h), which I am about to take him up on. and then he has a variety of strops. I believe the only one that he keeps in stock is the filly, which is the $20 strop, about 2'' wide. Any of the other ones he will just make when you order it. So if you find a decent SR at an antique store and get everything through him you will save a lot. I found a razor in pretty nice condition for $35. I have no doubt that you can find one cheaper. I got mine at a store in downtown San Antonio, and being such a tourist spot everything was over priced.

at the AOS, their cheapest Razor is $100- I think they take off 10% for military too, then their cheapest strop is like 75. thats already more than $100 for what I paid. And the great thing about the filly, you don't feel as bad when you nick it. And I bought the starter kit for $25 which came with a small badger brush, I like my $8 dollar boar that got from walmart better. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Harold, I am in the same boat as you are. I just started DE shaving and wanted to get into SR shaving. I live in Frisco, TX so let me know what you hear about other locals. I have been looking at Dovo and Boker razors to start out with although I am still reading and haven't made my final decision on which razor to purchase.

Yeah, Ken is a great guy. He let me drop both my razors off for honing in person, and I was able to watch how he honed and he gave me advise while he was working on them. He is really down to earth and will answer any questions you have.
