I have a razor, hones, strops and everything he'll need to get started. All he has to supply is a true desire to try. We'll see! His brother, 18, has already made the commitment and has an equivalent setup also. Great post!!!

Shooting? Which time? I'm thinking, as your deceased Grandmother used to call them, Redneck Desert Orgy.
(Nothing like that, guys!) Parker's 6 uncles, all the grandkids, 30 or 40 pounds of anything that could
be fried in Peanut oil, a tiny amount of "healthy" food, and NUMEROUS firearms, everything from
a pump pellet (and BB) gun to .45 cal hand cannons. This was WAY out in the desert, outside of Las vegas,
usually during a cooler month. No, no alcohol was involved, mainly because most of the participants don't drink,
and there were firearms present. At the final curtain, the assembled firewood (mostly pallets, "borrowed"from local
establishments) were doused with the remaining fry oil, and the rest consumed in a "pillar of fire."

Oops, forgot the go-cart, that Parker's grandmother (and my mother) loved to take grandkids for rides on.

Ddi I leave anything out, Parker?

I love the look of complete and utter anticipation and excitement on your face, classic!! nice work dude, I definitely wish that I had of known about straight razor shaving when I was your age... the money I could have saved by now! the enjoyment that could have been had! I guess I shouldnt say that yet, my razor is in the mail, but Im sure Ill enjoy it, since I was 18 I have always had an interest in the ways of old, uncomon things, pipes, old chev cars and trucks, records, guitars, old fashioned candy, cooking impliments, antique guns, Cowboy action shooting, saddles, furniture, so on so forth, Plus... I have always freaking hated shaving. Im 21 now and Im not sure why it took so long to stumble on straight razors... Anyway, that look you have is just great! Thanks for Videoing your first time, Im sure you enthusiasm, excitement, and pure thrilled satisfactory-ness put a smile on lots of peoples faces, keep it up, and dont wish for that heavy manly beard to hard seems girls these days arent a fan, there are some though, also I hear the ones that do like the beard dig the straight razor

I might get ripped for this one, but shaving is the one area where you might not wanna listen to your dad unconditionally.. Most guys born past the 1950's grew up on canned foam and disposables. Not much in the way of credentials. Unless your dad's a barber and/or his advice jives with what you receive here, make sure it gets filtered

Also, even if he knows a bit about honing, remember that the straight razor is a delicate beast. One member had a woodworker relative (used on sharpening plane and chisel blades, with the proper equipment, too) try to hone his razor. It was a miserable failure not because the relative was incompetent, but because he just didn't know the specifics.
