I just look at the 35 razors that are ready to go ...all diff grinds,sizes,sheffields,German,French...and pick one for the day. I give them all a ride and forget how good some of them are !!!
I use what suits me and am no longer feeling guilt for not using some of them very often.
This information supports a lot of wwt I was experiencing. For whatever reason there were just some I liked better and sometimes I knew from that first stroke. I was way overcomplicating it I think, which is my natural initial tendency, and was prepared to do a Tournament of sorts with single eliminations and a final Battle Royale... But, I just wasn't having much luck. It kept seeming like there were simply too many factors to consider but I initially thought that was just because I didn't know enough yet. I'm glad some mentioned that there were simply too many factors as that takes a bit of a load off my mind. :D
I like the Intuitive Route that seems to be the overall consensus... Just take a look and use the one that seems to speak to me at the moment!
I was starting to think of ways to do bilateral pulls with a razor in each hand... That's when I knew it was time to post this Thread. ;)
I look at the pile and usually one of the calls to me, louder than the others. :D
I generally stick to my Wacker, because it's my favorite. When it needs a touchup I'll switch to another untl it's ready again. Just ordered 3 more just like it though, so now I will have trouble choosing!
I have 8 shave ready. Depends on how long my beard is which one I select. Longer the beard the heaver the grind razor I select.
Of course I have my favorites, and when I am in quandary as to which to select, they take president. An Eyre quarter hollow, Dbl Duck full hollow, and a Robeson near wedge. Guess it all comes down to what's in your stable.
I just go grab whatever razor I feel like. Some days I feel like using a wedge or quarter hollow, other days I want to use a full hollow or a frameback.
Sometimes I use one razor all week and occasionally I'll have a Sheffield or Eskiltuna week, those are the only times that my choice is premeditated and even then I have at least some variation.
having a set rotation would take away some of the fun for me since I pick soap/cream A.s and razor based on my mood that particular morning.
"Informal rotation" is definitly the way to go if you ask me.
