First shave... no bloodloss!

Had my first straight shave today. The razor from Gary worked (and looked) great.

Went great!

Very comfortable and no blood loss. It wasn't quite as close as a DE shave but I have no doubt that will improve with time. Seemed less irritating to my neck than my DE too which is fantastic.

Definitely a fun way to shave; just have to wait on my strop now until I can try again

Is a bit intimidating; but taking it easy it really wasn't as difficult as I expected.

Sounds like a great start, and it is fun! While it isn't really that hard to straight shave (we can say that by having done it! ), it is a great sense of accomplishment when you pull it off.

I've been going for a couple of weeks now and still haven't reached the bloodless point, so congratulations I'm a little jealous! Hehe. Hopefully the soap & brush will help compensate for my retarded left hand in a week or so.

A good soap and brush can certainly make a huge difference.

I am using the Best Badger brush from Crabtree and Evelyne (a good value and usually obtainable locally) with the HoneyBee soap. I have been using DE's for a little while and found the soap and brush made a huge difference with those so I have no doubt it will improve your straight experience.

I am ambidextrous so I think I had a bit of advantage that way too.

I was a bit weary of it as she uses Aloe and that generally doesn't agree with me.

Ahh, ambidexterity. I'd cut my left hand off to be ambidextrous.

My left paw is about as useful as a bicycle for a fish :/
