Bringing my wife into the fold

So I've been wet shaving for few months now. After reading from the ladies corner and a bit in the reddit shaving forum I was finally able to have enough evidence to convince my wife to give it a try. 2 days ago I shaved one of her legs with my straight, thankfully no cuts. She started shaving up by the hooha and was totally going against the grain (with her mach). I told her she should look at the grain and shave with it first, then against. She was completely dumbfounded by this idea she just said "well I always thought against the grain gave the closest shave" not realizing how much more irritation it also gives, then slightly angry at her mom for never telling her that when she first learned to shave.
Now I bought her a DE lady gillete (I think thats what its called), it was the cutest one we found and ordered a sample pack of razors. So this morning she shaved her legs with it and used some of my soap for lather (rather than hair condition which is the usual). I realize she is brand new at it and I tried helping her a little but I was also pretty funny how much more time she took because of enjoying it more and looking at grain and stuff. After finishing (with only a few nicks) she is pretty excited to try some of the other blades to find what kind she likes best. She is also wanting to get her own brush and "girly" smelling soap. So ladies and gents I think we have a new member.

Ladies Corner be on the lookout. She is planning on signing up later today so that she can get some pointers from actual women on this rather than just us guys .

I find that shaving your legs ATG (unless unnaturally coarse) for women doesnt seem to irritate as much as it would a man shaving his beard. I do agree however that shaving up by your hooha, as you put it, you do not want to go ATG! Do WTG and XTG and finally when you get to be a pro you can finally do ATG. I have been shaving WTG and then ATG on my legs but I do not notice a difference in closeness or irritation either way. So no need to be mad at her mom! BUT that being said Congrats to her for the switch! I suggest shave sticks for the legs cause it is so very convenient for lathering larger areas of the body. I also have some girly scents I love.
