I am not sure where to put this, but since I am a beginner I'll put it here.

Last week I started a thread about local honing in Montreal, because I didn't want to mail my razors and wait a couple of weeks for them to get back (plus the postage fees). Unfortunately, I did not get the answer I was hoping for. No one knows of a honemeister in Montreal. However, I got a reply from forum member Badgister, who is a fellow Montrealer and a straight razor enthusiast. He said that he was willing to hone my razors, introduce me to honing and give me advice on how to start.

I obviously accepted his offer and we scheduled a day to meet. He was kind enough to invite me to his office, where we metyesterday.
Badgister has about 10 years of experience in the SR world, so I was willing to trust his advice.

He inspected my razors and thought that a green paste stropping would be enough to bring the edge back (and it was enough). He then checked my stropping technique out, and gave me a couple of pointers.

Now the fun part starts, he showed me the stones that he uses, gave me a demonstration of the pyramid honing technique, and then he shared with me his beautiful collection of razors, most of them if not all are vintage blades that he bought and restored himself. It was the first time that I saw so many razors in one place. A truly beautiful collection.

When I left his office, I was even more enthusiastic about this hobby.

Sorry about this long post but I just wanted to share my experience with Badgister.
I would like to add that I am really happy to be a part of this community.
