I know I'm still brand new, but I want to take advantage of the information you all have immediately.

I'm assuming the best place a beginner to buy would be from a veteran, so I was wondering if you wouldn't mind recommending me one or two of the razors being sold on this forum.

The only special circumstances to keep in mind I can think of is that I'm obviously I'm a newbie, and I don't hide from the fact that I'm almost entirely into straight razors now because of a desire to be more classic since everything else is so hip, if possible; I'm looking for a balance between price and quality but if I have to spend more to get quality so be it.

I will be very appreciative of whatever help may be upcoming.

check out the classfields, there are some very nice and affordable razors up right now and the best part is you can buy with confidence.

whippeddog.com if you really want to save up.

the superior shave, straight razor designs and vintage blades LLC and the invisible edge all sell quality razors too and are the most trusted vendors on this site and you can never go wrong with them.

as for the balance between price and quality, i use a dovo best quality i received from straight razor designs, to add a little bit more "quality" i rescaled it in bocote wood scales i ordered from the invisible edge. the balance between price and quality is for you to determine, but the basic dovo is generally where everybody starts. hope you find what youre looking for and welcome to SRP!

edit: also recommended for a newbie to start with a 5/8 or 6/8 hollow round point as square points can be deadly in the hands of beginners. bigger blades will be hefty and prove difficult to adjust to the weight and balance of the straightrazor. obviously you can go ahead and buy a big hefty square point razor right now, itll just be a little bit more difficult to learn with.
