Default No discussion of face mapping?

I've been DE shaving for years. One of the first things I did, and I suggest to a new DE shaver is map the direction of the beard growth.. Really map it.. put it on paper so you know the direction.

I have yet to see this recommendation on any of the str8zr forums, or in the videos I've watched, even though mention is always made to WTG, XTG & ATG. Plus, from what I have read of the segmented barber shaves, there is no mention to growth direction.

Just curious why face mapping isn't a prevalent with straights as it is with other blades...

Face mapping is indeed a very useful tool to get the best and most comfortable shave possible.

It has been a theme here many times over the years, and a similar chart to yours can be found in our library.

Another reminder sounds good though, for all our new members

I think its a great tool as well. There are two challenges for me though. One is that my face seems to work much differently than these guides. Its like a golf course designed by a tennis pro, lol. Another is that what works for someone else shaving your face (i.e. Barber) doesn't always translate well to when you are doing it to yourself- at least in my practice. I can duplicate everything suggested with a DE just fine but with a straight I vary somewhat in order to prevent nicks and cuts.
