Been straight razor shaving for about 6 months now. My first real straight is a Daniel Herder that shaves well. I bought some quarter nortons and managed to hone it well enough for a great shave. I recently bought a Wade and Butcher which I tried to hone with no success. Despite holding the blade carefully flat, one side and end of the razor has too flat of a bevel and the other side/end has almost none. I realize I am in over my head with honing.

i would like to learn to become proficient at honing but am quickly realizing I can't learn it from videos. I am in the Cincinnati area. Anyone in the area who could teach me or at least hone my Wade correctly?

Also, my instinct is that the quarter nortons were a mistake, just not big enough. I also bought a quarter PHIG stone. Anyone here successful with such a cheap setup?
