    I was asked this exact question at the Denver meet this past Sunday, there was a time that my automatic answer was "Find a good quality Barber's Hone at a good price and never look back" but now a days those are getting to be stupid expensive and hard to find.. My goto response is more toward the Naniwa SS 12k now, that is a very versatile hone at a very fair price...
