Welcome to SRP. Good luck in finding that first razor. There are lots of things to consider and if you look, most of your questions will be answered here in the forum. There's always someone around to point you in the right direction.

Welcome aboard.
You are about to start a long journey.
Haha I think I'm ready for it.
I just purchased my first blade out of the classified section! I'm pumped
Welcome, glad to have you on the forum!! :D
I was going to tell you that new razors are pretty scarce right now. It seems Dovo and Boker are having some production lags and are out of stock most places.
I was going to recommend the classifieds here, but, you're ahead of me!! :)
Some other excellent reading and info are linked below in my sig. line. The wiki and Beginner's Tips.
Again, Welcome!!
Regards,
Howard :)
Sweet! I hope I'm doing everything correctly so far!
The guy who I bought the razor from is really nice and is really willing to help out however he can. I'm really liking this place.
I'll be sure to read some more!
Here's a link to what I just bought, what do you guys think?

Thanks!
Any idea on a first strop? I was thinking of this one
RupRazor - The Filly
or this one
Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment
but I'm open to any suggestions.
That's a beauty. I'd looked at that one but eventually got a French point. Didn't want to take any chances. LOL You did good!
Thanks! I just figured, hell why not.
I have the SRD hanging strop, but recently purchased their modular paddle strop - it's great. I think it is much easier to strop on and the ability to change the stropping surfaces is a big plus. Good luck with your new hobby!
Welcome! I just state this month as well it took me about 4 shaves with a straight razor until I got it down most of the techniques down. I am still working on my chin and just underneath my chin. Tricky area there! I found in my first couple shaves I wasn't using enough pressure and was only performing a beard reduction.. I recommend watching some of Geo fat Boy's videos on YouTube to give you some helpful hints! Best of luck and welcome to SRP !!
Congratulations and enjoy the razor!
I like the premier strop companys product. Three inches wide, fancy engraved bolts, everything replaceable. Made by the Amish. I paid about $60.00 for mine last year.
