Indeed, enough Dutch members here who know how to hone a razor.
That being said, long term it's best for you to learn how to hone a razor yourself!

Yes. Honing is very fulfilling for most. It should be done after you get grasp on shaving though. Getting an experienced member to hone to start with is a great plan.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

KeizerAd, The guys are tell you right. When starting, having a really sharp AND SMOOTH edge makes for alot more smiles. It also gets you used to what a good edge should feel like when the time comes to get some stones & jump into honing. I tried to learn both at once. I bled alot & can't say it was particularly enjoyable. When I first tried a well done edge, it changed everything - mostly made it a pleasure, rather than a challenge. You do have some very skilled guys in your area. If at all possible, try to get some time in person with them. It usually speeds up the learning and the fun. Congrats for choosing quality. You'll do well & probably find you don't like using other methods.
