    Smile Ordering in the US?

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking around for a straight razor, prefferably a new one, to start with. I was wondering if you order in the US do you need to pay extra taxes at the customs or anything, when shipping to Holland?

Generally not. It is a bit depending on luck. If something is shipped in an envelope it never gets looked at by customs.
If something is shipped in a box, then it depends. More often than not, noone looks at it. Sometimes they do, and in my experience you get stuck with a 10 euro fixed fee.

Depending on what you want, you could also order from Germany or Belgium.

I know that's not your question but the fastest international shipping I've ever experienced was to the Netherlands. Dropped it off friday evening with regular first class mail, and by monday noon the buyer had it. Of course, the plane only takes less than 7 hours, but processing it at my local post office, getting it over to JFK or wherever it flies from, then getting processed at Amsterdam customs, transferring it to the post office there then getting it to the buyer - all that got done over a weekend and I was truly impressed.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

You helped a lot, even the speed of the shipping from the story of gugi. That is somehow a barrier les.

Let me nuance the posts a bit. if your package is labeled by the sender as traded goods and a value above 45 euros, it WILL get picked out by your postal service. Doesn't matter whether that's UPS, TNT,FedEx TPG or whatever service. They have to stand their position. The best and fastest way I find for shipping is to not have the actual solde value but that value minus at least 5% off.

Hi, I just bought a new Boker from a new shop in The Netherlands: Ultimate Shaving. Website is not ready but they are authorized dealer for Boker, Thiers-Issard and Alex Jacques for custom razors and very good horse-hide strops.

You can contact them via info@ultimateshaving.com and are located in Haaglanden.

On most websites I do order after proper investigation.

In this case I heard about this company was in a barbershop and I contacted them because they don't have a website. I know the Boker brand so after some contacts I ordered one, made an appointment and collected and payed. Very good service and razor sharp delivered.

Personally if I can't look on a website I would like to take a look in a store but I couldn't find an adress. Can you tell me were they are located exactly? I'm now searching for a beginnerskit and saving some cash because studying ain't cheap unfortunatly

Not sure about going to Holland, but I've ordered straights from the U.S.A. before & I've had no problems with an expensive or slow delivery. (I know I'm just across the line, but you never know what Customs will throw at ya'!) So far so good.
