I am setting a side a budget of $50 or less to add another brush to the rotation. My current brush is a best badger EJ in ivory. Really like this brush. Curious to try some others though. Maybe different handle shape an color. So for all the BAD sufferers on here, if you had my budget what brush would you choose again. I am saving to have walleye build me a brush in peacock but that's a bit off. So for now Id like some suggestions. Thanks
If you have a nice badger brush...why not try a boar brush? I tried a Semogue, and while it was different, and didn't quite measure up in my opinion, I'm going to pull it back out soon enough and give it another try, if only to change things up. So for $50.00, you could grab a nice boar brush, and cross off the list trying one....Quote:

I have the 1305, great looking brush, as boar brush as you get! I've had one round with it and didn't necessarily like it. Having said that, the great thing about this hobby is I can pull it out and try again, which I will be doing for the next shave...love the ability to change things up when I want.Quote:

I'd do something different from what you have, either in loft or knot size or material.
I agree on the Semogues. I have an 820, which I didn't like at first, but after 4 or 5 uses have found it to be a great latherer with even hard soaps. I'm not crazy about it with creams, but for them I have several badgers, all of which are Parkers which cost in the $30 range.
Take a look at the Vulfix Site. They should have quite a selection in your price range.
I've made all mine, so I can't comment on brands, but if it were me and you haven't tried Finest Badger or Boar that's what I'd go for.
I have been contemplating a boar brush. Never used one. I have a steady rotation of creams. Very little soaps. I've read that boar tends to do better with soaps. Also for the price of boar compared to badger I may just try a couple. On that note the price of the parker brushes is enticing. Any one know the longevity on the cheaper brushes? I've gotten great mileage out of my current brush. That's why I never bought any more. Aint broke kinda thing. LOL. Thanks for all the info so far guys.
I'd try the WSP 2 band silvertip (amazon has it for around $50). Great brush for palm or face lathering.
I would say split your budget and get an omega boar 48,49 or big pro and a vie long professional horse hair.
Ok so I am looking heavy at the semogue 1800 boar brush. Wasn't considering horse or synthetic hair but if in the budget its worth a try.
Here's a nice looking Horse hair one, and it's available in badger or horse and badger, but no boar strangely....
I'm a fan of the handle, not of horse or anything mixed but it falls within your range.

I stopped by at the Body Shop and noticed they sell synthetic brushes the brush feels some what soft has anyone tried this type of brush from the Body Shop brushes or any other synthetic shaving brushes out there?
Any decisions made ?
Well I actually had a semogue in the cart ready to check out last night. Then remembered I have a house payment to pay first LOL. I am going to get the semogue 1800 an also one other that I haven't decided on yet. After doing the adult thing an paying the bills I am going to grab a few for sure. :rock:
I have an omega synthetic I like it a lot BUT I have found the bristles comes out when using on my face. Now with that being said it may be MY brush that is just doing it. But it whips up nice cream and willbbe good enough till I get my badger
