Thanks for the reply obie and all the info. The SRD brush stands for the oversized straight razor designs silver tip brush made by stephens woodworking model 7
They the 7th the model made oout of purple heart really tugs at me. One of the first things i made out of wood was a pen in high school out of purple heart, so it's always a personal connection when i see something nice in purple heart and this brush is definitely no exception. Just out of curiosity when you say Thater 2 bands or 3 bands, What does that mean? what do the bands represents, is it a grade of silver tip?
Two-band and three-band refers to the coloring in the brush knot.
Two-band brushes use thick hair that has soft tips and springs back. The thick and dense hair gives the brushes a solid backbone that can also make the brush scrubby. Some gentlemen do not like the density in these brushes.
Three-band brushes have finer hair and softer tips, and to gain backbone, they must be densely packed. I like both types, and prefer two-bands for soaps and three-bands for creams. You can go either way. Of course, this a general description of two-band and three-band.
