Thanked: 0Thater 4292/5 Vs Overstuffed SRD brush #7 (purple heart)
So as the title suggests, Im interested in purchasing one of these two brushes (since i wanna get a straight razor kit from SRD and wanna upgrade the brush). Any suggestions on which one? I'm leaning toward the SRD brush since i absolutely love purple heart. In terms of feel and quality though which of the two would be better ?

That is the exact brush I intended to order, then I changed my mind and got the 4125/2 two band silvertip Thater. This is my first Badger brush and I am no expert but I would and will buy another. I like it a lot

Manboy,
I love Thater brushes. I had the Thater 4292/5 two-band, however, and did not care for it. Now, the Thater 4125/1 and 4125/2 and the larger ones in two-band are exquisite. I have a whole series of the 4125 two-band and all are as sweet as an angel's kiss. I can't comment on the SRD #7 purple heart; I don't know what that means.

Thanked: 284Not to throw another wrench into the decision making, but if you were going to go with a custom brush like the SRD #7, I'd consider someone like Bill (pixelfixed) or other brush makers here to make something. You can get exactly what you want with some nice exotic materials in there if you so choose. They're works of art. You can see some from our brushmakers here in the classified section.
Just food for thought!I love living in the past...

Attila, mine was the two-band. All my Thater brushes are two-bands in bulb shape, all with silky tips. This two-band, however, had a fan-shaped knot, which I don't particularly care for, and the tips had a hint of "scritch," which, because of my extremely sensitive skin and heavy beard, I found slightly irritating. Also, I had not expected the "scritch" from a Thater two-band silvertip. So after three lathers, I sold the brush. Still, it is an excellent brush if one does not mind the hint of the "scritch" in the knot.

Good choice, Attila. I love Thater brushes. My skin situation is a particular case. For example, I cannot wear a new dress shirt until it has been washed at least a half a dozen times. Oy! That's why I have to be careful what kind of a brush I use.
By the way, another brush I have found to be sweet as an angel's kiss is the Vie-Long silvertip sold at Bull Goose. I just love this brush.
Stay well.

Wow! I thought my skin was sensitive! Thanks for the advice! Are you meaning the new Vie Long "Randall" silvertips at Bullgoose?

I have the Randal and it's a sweet brush; however, I prefer the beehive for being even sweeter.
