Classic Muhle Silver Tip 25mm
I have a Thater 4292/3, 4292/4 and 4292/5 already, the 4292/6 is in my shopping cart for my next order (a 60th birthday present to myself). I love the ones that I have and will the new one, too. My favorite will be the one that I m using at the time.
I'm waiting on my morris & forndran to show up, that will most likely be my favorite. My current go to is a custom buckeye burl from harrywally, with a 28mm high mountain white knot.
Black badgers from FS and TGN
Old versions because the quality on my latest purchases had dropped dramatically.
Maybe they change their providers.
For me it's just a simple while plastic handled Simpson Best Badger! I have tried others but keep going back to it:)
Thater 4292/3 and Superior Shave Nusbaum silver tip. I am preceding smaller knots nowadays
I like boars and I use them like I hate them. However, I have a 25mm homemade Shavemac 2 band silver tip fan that about as nice of knot as I've run across.
I have a love/hate relationship with my favorite brush. I got a Silvertip Badger from Art of Shaving with a gorgeous metal handle. In true Art of Shaving fashion, it was priced at a laughably ridiculous 250 bucks, but I got it anyway. However, also in line with Art of Shaving, the quality is there, which softens the blow. It's an extraordinary brush (manufactured by Muhle, I believe) and I love it. I just don't get that company though. Some really nice products, but the pricing is nuts.
That is the challenge for me with so many of the mid-higher end Brushes regarding their prices... Unless they are sourcing differently or building their own knots then how different can a brush be if the majority are knotted with same/similar hair?! That is what has stopped me from taking the plunge on a higher end brush... Build my own for around $40 with parts from TGN or many multiples past that price from another company... Perhaps not having a store like AOS nearby is more blessing than curse as, if I could get my hands on the good stuff, my situation may not be nearly so confusing and wallet would be much lighter?!?! :)
