Tom - awesome Texas Snurfler - I gave my wife back her small ornamental spoon - going to try it tonight with some cream - which brings me to the brush.
Much floppier brush for sure - lacks the backbone to really bite into hard soap - but that was first use. Used the brush my normal way by soaking completely and got the result I expected - not great performance.
Tonight's shave is going to only wetting the tips, may use a hard soap again, but think this brush will shine with creams. Gorgeous vintage piece without a doubt, and did feel great on the face. For softness, could easily sit beside any badger.
Regardless where this brush ends up in my rotation (if at all) I won't be replacing the knot - clearly it is from a bygone era and is functionally perfect. Thinking this brush was meant to use with lather from a machine, or a lather that could be easily "whipped" up using a stellar shaving cream.
This brush I can tell would be stellar with a Texas Snurdler and some T&H Trafalgar or 1805 and that may well be the plan for tonight -:)
