Silly what those go for. I bought several for 6 and 10 bucks, fixed them up and spread them around.
Just happy I have one left!
BTW, I sanded and polished that one of mine with the original knot without disassembling a thing! A soak in strong Oxyclean made the knot look much nicer.

Have the head soaking in some solution now.
I have tried several of those knots in the Duck flavor. (long boar) The knot feels okay but it flings soap all over the place. Great for whipping up cream though. Just have to paint after that. It's the face lathering that flicks the soap in the air. I have a hard enough time with a shorter badger in mixed or black let alone those long stiff boars.
You nailed it, and that settles it for me personally.
The one thing I hate and go to great pains to prevent happening while lathering up, is having lather go flying all over the place, or splotching onto the sink area, drives me nuts....a drippy brush, or one that's prone to fling stuff just won't fly in my den.
Mike, looking real good, the inside of the brush almost made me gag....wow!
So it's going to be high quality badger knot then, just have to figure out what size, which one, and where to order it from....any recomendations?
Might as well pop for a high mountain white from golden Nib. Even though every supplier I talk to gets a kick out of that name. Seems the high mountain badger people went extinct and nobody knows where these elusive critters ever lived. It's kind of a joke to them.
I've read lots of opinions about the HMW and whether it's just a high falutin' name for a cheap Chinese knot...shame Simpson or Rooney doesn't sell knots....how does the Golden Nib HMW compare to a Plisson or similar super badger knot.
Has to have great backbone, and scritch is a must...finally understand that term. The Rooney Emilion 1 Super Badger has lots of it, the Plisson HMW none of it, the Simpson's Super Badger is right in between and the Morris & Forndran L7, the one I have, has loads of it....
Yup, looks like it'd fling for sure.
Figured that'd make the decision easy Andrew.. Will work on removing that existing knot, but either shave Mac or golden nib, 26 mm, and the tallest loft they have will be the plan I figure..
