Thanked: 2Panera Bread Company's Soup Bowls work very nicely...putting soap in it or using it to build lather with a cream.
just don't ask me how I go one of their bowls home

I'm not sure how well it will work, but I picked up a heavy plastic salsa bowl from Wal-Mart yesterday. When I first saw it it reminded me of an old cast iron kettle with 3 legs. It is a little larger than a regular shavng mug and rough textured, so it should be ok as far as building lather, and for .94 cents I didn't think it would hurt to experiment.

I just soak these in hot water before mixing my cream into a lather.
I just tried soaking my soap dish (exterior only) and it seemed to help, but the warmth didn't last long enough for the second lathering. I find that creams are lubricating enough that I don't want a second lather, but soaps do. Still working on that issue and a traditional scuttle may be where I end up on that front.

Thanked: 26If you go to any Target, Walmart, etc. you can find thick, ceramic bowls that are great for keeping lather warm. I bought one for $2 and it works perfectly.

Thanked: 2Empty shaving cream containers with the screw on lids, preferably the ones with the liners. Ive poured (carefully) melted HBS soaps in them, placed new soap pucks in them, whatever. The size is perfect for working up a good lather, it gives the container a second life, and they are great for traveling.

I got tired of using a bowl, just couldn't seem to find one big enough. Here a pic of me with my replacement...
