Thanked: 1083LS shaving brush
Thought Id write a review on my new LS, Lijun Shaving "Spectrum" brush. There wasnt many reviews out there but Id thought Id take a chance. Priced at £24/$29 for a two band where could I go wrong?
After ordering I had the Brush in my hand in less than two weeks.
Pre bloom
It has a 24mm knot with a 55mm loft.
During its maiden voyage I was amazed of the performance, soft tips with slight scritch that has pretty much disappeared with subsequent use and good backbone. I really cant fault this brush, now it doesn't have the same face feel as a Simpson Manchurian or softness of a Thater but for the price I really cant knock it.
The handle is well turned and feels good in the hand with a nice weight. The cheap sticker came off after the first go but Im not fussed. The knot is well constructed with no glue bump, It has shed a few hairs but nothing major, maybe ten in the last two weeks which I daresay will stop altogether soon enough but Im not really worried.
I have tried it with hard soaps, soft soaps and creams and has lathered each one like a champ. I exclusively face lather and have found it to be quite soft using painting strokes and a soft scrubiness when using a circular motion.
One word of caution though, this brush stank to high heaven it really was quite repulsive, luckily it went away after a week of use.
All in all Im really impressed with this budget brush and the price to quality ratio is outstanding. I might have just got lucky though, with all cheap mass produced items from China you always take a risk. But Im happy to say it gets Markbignosekellys seal of approval.
Next to a Thater 4125/1 24mm after bloom
