About a 4 to 1 ratio, warm water to vinegar soak, 10-15 min and hair shampooing or Dawn dish soap, shampoo will get rid of the smell. May take a couple soaks. Soak up to the knot. Rinse well in hot water.
Thoroughly dry the brush.
Shake off most of the water into the sink, Blot the brush on towel.
Take a micro fiber or cotton hand towel, drape over your open hand, like you are going to shake hands and run the brush across the index finger so the tips are hitting the fingers, about 6-10 times. Rotate the brush a quarter turn and do it again.
If the brush is still damp move the towel, so a dry portion is over the hand and do it again. When finished, the brush should almost be dry to the touch on your face. Hang dry, you can buy plastic brush holders very inexpensively.
Can’t beat the Omega brushes, for the price.
