YMMV, and no disrespect meant, but Kent's knots are too floppy and soft for me. Now Bern @ Shavemac could put a knot in that handle fit for a King, and he'll do it. IMHO.

I can send him an email and see what he thinks. A knot that big will need some good backbone to it either way or it would be like a cosmetics brush
Yes Bernd Blos would be an excellent person to contact. He could definitely suggest what grade he has and loft setting that would give you the feel you want. From your post on the knot size and loft the original probably was not a floppy knot being the loft was set lower than 2X the knot diameter. Good luck with your project. That should be one monster brush when redone.

I got a 38 mm knot in a custom, they can be floppy if set too high, or its to loosely packed, a good knot set properly will be fine, and the Shavemac will be a great knot. Tc
Leonhardy in germany is officially an option. They flat out said they could do a knot even bigger than this brush requires.
What is strange is when i contacted shavemac directly they said 35mm is the limit, but when rudy vey got my bulk message and asked them they said they could but only in the three band badger. I have a feeling kent is going to say yes but quote me something astronomical in an attempt to shoo me away yet not lose face.
The remnant of the original kent knot is super soft for the top half and pillar stiff at the bottom.
I believe I read somewhere that Shavemac quotes the knot size at the glue plug. In order to fit the knot in the handle the opening in the handle would likely be 2 - 3 mm larger than the knot size in order for a proper fit. In effect you would have a 37mm to 38mm knot if measured at the handle opening.
I have a custom made Shavemac brush using a 26mm 2 band silvertip knot. The knot when measured at the opening where the knot comes out is slightly larger than 29mm. It depends where you measure the knot size from. TGN quotes at the glue plug iirc when I ordered some knots from them. They recommend the hole in the handle be larger than the knot size for ease of fitting. Most knots widen out just above the glue plug itself.
