Hone Shaving

Hone Shaving is going to release the Type B.
A modular shaving brush.

With a mechanism It'll allow to change the knot.
And to adjust the hight (5-8mm).

Sizes are 24mm knot for a 31mm aluminium handle.
And the total weight is 160g with the default synthetic.

Great idea! Being able to adjust height is very appealing.
Too bad its ugly as sin Maybe they will come out with other styles with a patent for the mechanism and corner the market.
Flat out ugly to me though.

I don't really see the point. Buy the brush you want, that suits you. Or, if you are really picky, DIY. Set the knot you want in the handle you want and the depth that you want it, and be done. You should never need to change it until the knot is worn down to a frazzle, and then just drill it out and set a new one, or get a new brush. I can't imagine getting ready to shave and saying to myself, "Gee, this seems like a great day to dial the adjustable brush down a notch, for a little change of pace!" I don't like the looks of it, either, and I can't imagine it being cheaper than my 30mm Whipped Dog silvertip monster, which at least has the good grace to look sort of like a proper shave brush. IYAM this is just a solution that has no problem.

24mm knot is way too small for me, anyway.

And <double take> did you say, "synthetic"? Not everyone thinks much of that idea. I tried one. It's like using Windows instead of Linux. Hard to think of a reason to ever try another one.

I meant that it would be appealing to someone who does not want to guess at what they would like only to be disappointed with a paricular knot or depth.
Someone new would be wise to choose such an item so long as it wasnt too expensive. Seeing as it comes with a synthetic you could try that as well as buy a Boar and Badger to see what hair you liked best without buying three brushes.
Synthetic is not for me either but a decent option to try various knots.

A couple of thoughts.

What will be the price?

How does the mechanism work?

How dirty will the mechanism get?

When you wear your brush out many years from now will it be so full of soap and gunk that it wont move?

I don't personally soak my bruch before shaving but if you do how hot will the stainless handle get?

The design does not allow for hanging upside down unless the stainless is magnetic and them you could hang it by a magnet.

Aside from the fact that it is, as already said, uglier than a fat ladie's ass, I can see some value in it if you are not sufficiently set on what knot height you prefer and I suppose if the knots are not too expensive and other material is available it might be good as a tester.

There have been a couple other outfits doing the same thing in the past but they never really caught on. I could see it with an expensive handle but otherwise....

Although many change soaps often I am one that finds one and uses it for a long time.

For example I bought a Kilo of Cella....LOL

I have a couple of brushes with adjustable knot heights. Once I have found where they work they stay there and the adjustability isn't an issue.

But then again I lean more towards the way of making my present brush and my method of lathereing to make the soap work the best.
