I'm reading that brushes should be stored bristles down. Most of the brush holders i'm find for some reason are $30-70 which seems kind of rediculous, what all is there out there?
I think I'm getting a Shavemac 944? with the newbie kit from Topher

I'm pretty sure the plastic ones are much cheaper than the chromed metal....
you can easily make one out of a coat hanger if you don't feel like spending 70 bucks for a Dovo stand that is also basically made out of a coat hanger >:-}
Colleen at The Gentleman's Quarter has them for $7.50 and they are very good quality. They are much better then the $4.50 ones out there.
sweet... ordered that... and a coupla soaps.... and a bowl....

I made this one with 1/8" wire and a 1.5" suction cup. You can get the suction cups at most craft stores.
I was acutally thinking of making my own.. sort of industrial style (I'm an aspiring automotive engineer). Probably will still try at some point, but at least this way it's not a huge priority.. got something that should work.
I never hang my brushes,I figure that the flat bottoms were intended to stand them up.
Besides,we don't have to hang upside down for our hair to dry.:p
thats true I just worry about water pooling in the handle and starting to mildew
I don't hang mine but I always try to dry it as much as possible. I squeeze near the knot and shake it a few times, then brush around a towel for a bit.
(Then again, I'm cheap and basic and have been doing just fine with a boar brush. I figure if I spring for a badger I'll be tasting the fruits of another and won't want to go back to the boar.)
Some smart guys have said that the Capillary Action of the bristles wick away the moisture very effectively. I used to use a stand but now I just give 'em a strong shake into the shower stall to remove the excess water and stand them on their bases. No problems at all.
I have one brush and one brush only (actually it hasn't even arrived yet) and when I pay about $160 for it, I want to show it off proudly. Is a stand necessary? Debatable. Does it look cool? Definately. So I'm going to get a stand for it.
Now if I had more than one brush, I don't think I'd bother with a stand. I wouldn't be able to make the decision of which brush deserves a place on a stand and thus would feel like i needed a stand for ALL my brushes, if only so that none of them felt left out :roflmao
