Thread: brush holder

I'm reading that brushes should be stored bristles down. Most of the brush holders i'm find for some reason are $30-70 which seems kind of rediculous, what all is there out there?

I'm pretty sure the plastic ones are much cheaper than the chromed metal....

you can easily make one out of a coat hanger if you don't feel like spending 70 bucks for a Dovo stand that is also basically made out of a coat hanger >:-}

Colleen at The Gentleman's Quarter has them for $7.50 and they are very good quality. They are much better then the $4.50 ones out there.

I made this one with 1/8" wire and a 1.5" suction cup. You can get the suction cups at most craft stores.

I was acutally thinking of making my own.. sort of industrial style (I'm an aspiring automotive engineer). Probably will still try at some point, but at least this way it's not a huge priority.. got something that should work.

I never hang my brushes,I figure that the flat bottoms were intended to stand them up.
Besides,we don't have to hang upside down for our hair to dry.

thats true I just worry about water pooling in the handle and starting to mildew

I don't hang mine but I always try to dry it as much as possible. I squeeze near the knot and shake it a few times, then brush around a towel for a bit.

(Then again, I'm cheap and basic and have been doing just fine with a boar brush. I figure if I spring for a badger I'll be tasting the fruits of another and won't want to go back to the boar.)
