"See, you've cut to the heart of the fallacy in my thinking: I know the expense of the wasted soap is trivial, but the idea of that $.0002 worth of soap going down the drain makes me crazy!
Dan"
I was actually just being facetious by saying that when I want to justify buying something I imagine up some pretend money that I have and then use that instead of my "bread and butter" funds :), rather than commenting crux of your problem.
Just rememered, I even use a ToBs shaving soap for showering, and the same will most likely happen to a desert ironwood one from TGQ as I don't quite fancy the scent on that one =/

To use your excess soap, call your wife in and do her. I have a HUGE silver tip. It pours lather out. I ordered a 24mm silver tip and I'm gonna stick it on a handle and see how much it doesn't waste.

If you felt that that the Delong brush was wasting too much soap my recommendation would have been to get a smaller "silvertip" brush with a smaller knot and loft. That way you do not waste any lather. I really think that a Simpsons Chubby 1 or Rooney Style 1 size 1 would have fit your bill.
These brushes will cost a bit more up front but will last you much longer and hence are a better value.
