I just love the ingenuity here. This is fun.
How 'bout one of those tiny rare earth magnets inserted into the end of the brush so that it is flush with the surface. They are only about 3/16 of an inch in diameter. Then put a small metal plate affixed with rubber cement (this would make it removable if necessary) to the bottom of a shelf. I might not do this to the ivory handled brushes. :D
What Chaaaz said makes the most sense, but the other stuff gave my little brain a good workout. :y
I offer to inlay 1/4" rare earth magnets in the bottom of my brushes. I will usually inlay a mother of pearl cab, or another material to hide the magnet. The 1/4" magnets are strong enough to hold the brush up, even through the pearl. Other than that, I agree a stand would work best.
Funny you should mention rare earth magnets. I had an idea about using them for some sort of razor stand/holder/display. I like the idea from a display standpoint but the safety aspect has me a bit worried. Wouldn't want a dropped razor, a damaged blade, a pinched finger, etc.
Well people use them to old large heavy knives, so they are powerful enough to hold a razor i think. Two of them together can crush body parts!
Two of them, swallowed a few minutes apart could kill you, or at least cause you a great deal of pain and an expensive operation.
You would need padding for the razors, either leather or wood, making a plastic. Clanking your brittle razor to a rare earth magnet could easily chip it, IMO. I've done a couple of magnetic stands for brushes and razors and they tend to turn out quite nice.
Well... there ya go. I guess I know what you will be doing to my brush n stuff when you get to it. :tuQuote:

Hello all,
this is my first post here.
I've considered a long time how to store my brushes and razors and here's the result:
